I am very happy to have been elected as the Member at Large,
for the Valley,
on the Retired Teachers Organization Executive.
In this
position, I will be the liaison between the Executive and the three
Valley branches-Annapolis, Kings and West Hants.
It will be my
responsibility to bring your ideas and concerns to the Executive,
through the Branch presidents.
I will also pass on information from
our Executive meetings to the Branch presidents.
In addition to my
role as a Member at Large, I will also be a member of the RTO
Provincial Finance Committee
for 2016-2017.
As a little background … I taught for 33 years at four different
schools,
all in Annapolis County- Springfield, Nictaux, AEES and
Bridgetown Elementary.
Having served as a school rep for many years
for the Annapolis Local,
I was then elected Vice President of
Professional Development for a two year term.
Following that I was
elected Vice President of Public Relations and Communications.
I also
served on the Regional Representative Council for the Valley, as well
the Provincial Women in Education Committee
and later the Equity
Committee.
Since my retirement in 2010,
I have remained involved in
education by substituting in various schools in Annapolis and Kings
Counties,
at all grade levels, from Primary to grade twelve.
I have also
become an active member of the Annapolis Branch of the Retired
Teachers Organization.
I served on the Provincial Communication
Committee from 2012-2014 and was a member the Provincial
Pension
and Benefits Committee from 2014-2016.
I am very passionate about the Retired Teachers Organization
and
the importance of having strong, experienced representation.
I
will work hard, as your Member at Large, to keep all three Valley
Branches informed,
to represent your views and to try to find answers
for any concerns you may have.
